The Gunners will be hoping to get their Premier League campaign back on good track when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday night.
Arteta’s men have won just one of their last five top-flight matches and enter the weekend’s fixtures down in 12th, one point adrift opponents Wolves.
Arsenal may be struggling in domestic competition this season, winning just four and a recent draw away to Leeds last weekend out of 9 matches but they continued their impressive form in the Europa League on Thursday with a convincing 3-0 victory away at Norwegian side Molde.
The goalless draw against the Leeds was the second league match running that Arsenal had failed to score, having also fired a blank in their shock 3-0 home defeat to Aston Villa before the international break.
Indeed, Mikel Arteta‘s side have scored only one goal in their last five Premier League matches in what has been a poor run, the only victory coming away to Manchester United.
Ending this campaign in a European spot is also the target for the Wolves, who have had a rather mixed time of things so far in 2020-21.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have won four, lost three and drawn two of all their league games so far this season, the recent performance of which was a draw between them and the Saints at Molineux after Pedro Nero leveled Theo Walcott’s opener.
Arsenal have a series of injury concerns as the likes of Martinelli, Pablo Mari, Calum Chambers, are sidelined with injuries. Big summer signing Partey remains a doubt for this game. The fitness of Willian, Saka, Kolasinac also serve as concern to Arteta. Elneny remains in the isolation room having tested positive for covid-19.
For the visitor, the return of captain, Conor Coady after self isolation is a huge boost for the away side. His return will prompt manager, Nuno to return back to his preferred formation.
Conclusion:
Arsenal and Wolves have a very similar record this season, even scoring and conceding the same number of goals in their first nine matches. The away side have failed to claim the maximum point during the last 9 encounters at the Emirates stadium. The Gunners remain the favorite heading into this game.
